The bad guy is almost back: 50 Cent said he’s completed “80 percent” of his next album, the forthcoming Black Magic, which should arrive later this year.
The G-Unit rapper has continued to make inroads into Hollywood since his last project, 2009′s Before I Self-Destruct, but Fif told MTV News at the Sundance Film Festival that he’ll be focusing on music in the near future.
“[Fans] should look forward to the actual album this summer, so I have to release something soon,” he said about when to expect the first single. “I’m not sure if I’ll make a full mixtape [beforehand]. That’s what I was doing when I was making collaborations with new artists: I was working with artists that wouldn’t exactly be my equal because they don’t have a successful track record. But at some point you have to make the decision to just be an artist and work because you enjoy the music and you think it’s a good idea, as opposed to it being someone of your caliber.”
50 had already announced Eminem will appear on the album. But the Queens lyricist also said he’ll be working with a slew of new collaborators, including Boi-1da, Alex Da Kid and Kanye West’s “Power” producer Symbolyc One.
Lil Wayne producers The Surf Club — Hit-Boy and Chase N. Cashe — said the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ superstar will revisit the aggression of his earlier work on his latest set.
“He’s taking it back to the old 50,” Hit-Boy told us late last year. “And he had some new records that were some different-sounding stuff too. I’m excited to see how people react to it, and hopefully we end up with some stuff on the album. I gave him some stuff he really loved. It’s really a blend of the old 50 mixing with the new stuff that he’s doing. It’s crazy.”

G-Unit frontman 50 Cent recently spoke on his past feud with The Diplomats’ Cam’ron and promised he no longer has issues with Dipset.
Reflecting on their short-lived 2007 rivalry, 50 said their diss records were a mere representation of hip-hop’s competitive roots.
“What me and Cam’ron had is music,” 50 said, characterizing their rift as a challenge to be the preeminent MC. “It’s the competitive nature of the art form. In hip-hop, there’s always been battling. It’s a part of it. I don’t wake up or go to sleep feeling like I hate Cam’ron. He’s a good guy.” (MTV)
Last week, Cam took a similar stance, claiming their battle fueled hip-hop.
“I don’t have no problem with 50. 50 cool with me,” Cam said. “It was good for hip-hop. We had our little hip-hop beef or whatever you wanna call it, but ain’t no problem. Jim [Jones] and Juelz [Santana] do stuff with 50 and they camp all the time. I don’t have a problem with 50 at all. It is what it is. We had our little discrepancy, and we moved on from it.” (RapFix)
In 2009, Cam spoke on his duels with 50 and other elite rap stars.
“I’m not making up fake, imaginary beefs,” Cam said in an interview last April. “I’m not just jumping out for beef for no reason. When I went at Jay-Z, it was a lot of inside stuff that went on at Roc-A-Fella that we don’t need to go in to…There’s been a lot of times that I been wanting to do something but couldn’t because of Dame [Dash]. The 50 Cent thing, look you dissing, I took it as Jim [Jones] and Diplomats. Whoever else you could think of, Nas. The Nas situation. You got on the radio and said that Cam and [Funkmaster] Flex is ugly and Angie Martinez and N.O.R.E., whoever’s wack. It wasn’t because I attacked any of these people, it’s kinda all on defense, it’s always something that somebody did to me first.” (Miss Info)
In August 2009, Cam declined the opportunity publicly end the war with 50 at an annual “Family Day” event in Queens, New York.
“I’m not going to no show in Queens,” Killa said in an interview. “I don’t know how true it is — a few of my people, associates, said he was trying to reach out. But I ain’t going to no concert in Queens. Come up to Harlem Week. We could sit down and have the roundtable meeting if you really wanna be serious. Or meet anywhere — we can meet in Benihana’s if you wanna be serious. It don’t matter. I’m not squashing a problem we had in Queens at your event. That’s the same way he got other artists to come to his shows, whether they was down with Dipset or D-Block or Terror Squad, or whatever the case may be. It ain’t no real beef, but we ain’t gonna squash what we had at a Queens event. We’ll meet halfway — Triborough Bridge or something. But I ain’t going to no show in Queens. I’ll be at Harlem Week.” (MTV)
